Medical Directives

A Medical Directive, also known as an Advance Health Care Directive, is a very important peace of mind document we’ll draft, that names the person(s) who should make medical decisions for you if you are unable to make your own decisions.

Why do I need an Advance Health Care Directive?

There’s four key reasons clients choose to define an advance health care directive for themselves. These include:

  1. If you were incapacitated or unable to make your own decisions, this individual you’ve named would aid in making medical decisions for you.
  2. Your desires for the type of repose, including cremation or burial.
  3. Your willingness and preferences for organ donations. These ‘decided-in-advance’ decisions help save lives.
  4. Provides clarity on health care decisions when you are no longer unable to make them for yourself, including quality of life decisions like DNR’s and Life Support.
